Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) is a patented, non-invasive soft tissue treatment process that identifies and removes scar tissue and adhesions that have been known to cause pain, stiffness, muscle weakness, numbness and biomechanical dysfunctions associated with repetitive strains and injuries. A.R.T. is being actively used at Cohle Performance Chiropractic in Harrisburg, PA!

The goals of A.R.T. are to restore optimal tissue texture/tension/movement and to restore strength/flexibility/function by releasing any soft tissue adhesions. These restorations allow for muscles to move freely around each other, thus allowing the patient to regain functional movement without pain or restriction.

A typical treatment can last anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. The treatment isn’t painful, but should feel like a “good stretch”. The doctor will examine the soft tissue structures manually, identifying adhesions within the muscle belly and adhesions between structures that can prevent full range of motion. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.

Active Release Technique is not a cookie-cutter approach, it is specific to the patient and to the injury. Common conditions that see great results with A.R.T. include rotator cuff injuries, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, tennis/golfer’s elbow and any sprains, strains or nerve entrapments. A.R.T. is widely used in all professional sports because of its effectiveness in reducing injury time and quickness in restoring function.

Most patients have a noticeable improvement in range of motion and a reduction in pain levels after the first 1-3 visits and a vast improvement after 6-10 treatments.
